16 Thus says the Lord: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
19 Hear, O earth; behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people, l the fruit of their devices, because they have not paid attention to my words; and as for my law, they have rejected it.

Thus says YHWH:
“Stand by the ancient roads,
and look, and ask for the ancient paths:
Where is the good way? Walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls.”
But they said: “We will not walk in it.”

“I set watchmen over you:
‘Pay attention to the sound of the trumpet!’
But they said: ‘We will not pay attention.’”
18
Therefore, O nations, hear;
and know, O witnesses, what will happen to them.
19
Hear, O earth:
Behold, I am bringing disaster upon this people—
the fruit of their own thoughts,
because they have not paid attention to My words,
and My instruction they have rejected.

and keep My statutes, to walk in them.

He was speaking of Judas, son of Simon Iscariot,
for he—one of the Twelve—was going to betray Him.

- Iscariot means “man of Kerioth” (a town in Judah).
- Simon Peter: son of Jonah,
from Bethsaida, in Galilee.
Summary line:
The ancient path → the Law of YHWH → truth → life.
Jesus walks this path in obedience and speaks the words of life,
not as the Law itself, but as the One sent, who received the Word
and lived it perfectly.
